Why Denton is a Great Place to Call Home

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Denton, which is the county seat of Denton County, is located just 36 miles north of the large metroplex of Dallas and Fort Worth.

Perhaps a good word to accurately describe Denton is “diverse.” This is because Denton is such a fine mixture of old and new. This progressive city features a 100-year-old courthouse, along with an historic, and picturesque, town square, while at the same time is home to the Texas Motor Speedway, a world-class racing facility.

It may sound a bit odd to have these two worlds collide; but in Denton, it just works, thus making this small-town Texas city a favorite place to call home for many Texans.

Downtown Square

The downtown square of Denton is surrounded by a nice array of restaurants, shops and small businesses, and is considered by many to be cultural epicenter of this city. It is here that the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival is played out each year, drawing as many as 200,000 people. Extending beyond town square is a nice selection of bars, restaurants and cultural venues. In fact, Denton has acquired a nice reputation for being a haven for many music and art venues, thanks, in part, to the presence of the town’s two universities.

The two universities of Denton, Texas Women’s University and the University of North Texas, enjoy an enrollment of about 40,000 students.

Main Street America

Denton is often considered a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life and as such enjoys the slogan “Main Street America.” Denton, in fact, earned the title as one of the “Top 100 best Places to Live in America” in 2006 by Money Magazine.

Although Denton is known for its quaint and bed and breakfasts and small, sidewalk cafes, it is also the site of many international conferences and seminars, thereby affording the residents here with the best of both worlds, in more ways than one.

In addition to enjoying easy access to both Dallas and Fort Worth, as well as the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Love Field, a commuter rail line is expected to run from Denton to Carrollton, and will tie in to a planned Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail line.

Denton real estate has remained strong, despite the last year’s recession and housing market slump. The many real estate options found here attract many Texans looking for a quiet place to call home. The Denton real estate market is expected to continue to experience an upward trend throughout 2010.

Rayzor Ranch in Denton County

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Here we grown again. The 415-acre property in Denton now known as (Razor) Rayzor Ranch Town Center, an $850 million dollar project has apparently signed Dillard’s and JCPenney anchor the mall. This is the shot in the arm the Denton area is so badly in need of. The dirt movers are out there again moving stuff around but no real ground has been broken thus far.

The question we are all asking is what are they waiting for. We are all ready for the hype to go away and real progress to begin. As of this week they are having issues with standing water and muddy conditions. When the sun comes out lets all hope so do the workers and lets get going in this. The new projected “opening” is going to be fall of 2009. I would not hold your breath folks it seems to be a slower than normal process.

Rayzor Ranch Development is in full swing

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Rayzor Ranch Development is in full swing again. The anchor stores have been secured some of them will be Walmart and Sams club. With most of the retail spots already spoken for Denton County will be looking forward to the new shopping center to open. There will be new restaurants which I know we are all looking forward to, as well as the boost to the Denton community economy.

The retail project is scheduled to start opening the stores in the late fall of 2009. Rayzor Ranch is still working out a few bugs in the Residential side of the plan. The Brownstones and custom homes will be a few years away. The group is wanting to get the retail development up and running before they start on the home front. It will be a exciting project to watch. I will keep you posted as the project develops keep checking our website www.viprealtyinfo.com for more details as they develop or don’t hesitate to give me a call – Christine Schwirtz.

Razor (Rayzor) Ranch in Denton County

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Here we go again folks. As we all know the Denton County Razor (Rayzor) Ranch project has been on hold for sometime now. It has officially cleared all the red tape hurdles of town hall and the zoning issues.

The first phase of Razor Ranch in Denton County is scheduled to open in October of 2009. Some big names have signed up, such as Belk, Dillards and JCPenney.
There will also be a public park for children, an outdoor amphitheater and the Museum of Texas Art.
Rayzor Ranch Town Center is expected to generate $9 million in sales taxes and $5 million in property taxes which we all need in our community. This is the shot in the arm Denton has been waiting for.
