Preparing Your Home for Sale – Inexpensive Outdoor Solutions

You only have one chance to make a first impression. Cliché? Perhaps. But it usually always holds true. So the question is – What type of first impression is your Irving home making on buyers?

Is the lawn overgrown? Are weeds taking over your flower beds? Is the sidewalk cracked and are the windows dirty? If your Irving home’s exterior and lawn isn’t in tip-top shape, your dreams of a quick sale may be slipping down the proverbial drain.

Clean It Up!

Mowing the lawn, clearing your yard of weeks and debris, and trimming overgrown hedges are a great first step when preparing your home for sale. Take a look at the house from the street, as well. Are there any low-lying tree branches that are blocking the front of the house? If so, you may want to consider trimming those back to allow buyers to get a better look at the front of the home.

If you have vinyl siding, a pressure washer and a little time is usually all is takes to remove dirt and grime. Washing the windows also shows buyers that small details were not left unnoticed.

Spruce It Up!

There are many, inexpensive solutions to sprucing up your home’s exterior. Replacing the shutters, painting the front door and replacing or painting the mailbox are easy improvements which often make a large impact.

Planting colorful annuals and mulching the plant beds will brighten up your outdoor space, give it a warm, welcoming feel and, once again, show buyers that you have tended to even the smallest details.

Fix It Up!

Finally, inspect the walkway leading up to the home for cracks and uneven areas which could create a hazard. Seal the cracks in the driveway and make sure that buyers and other visitors have easy access to the front and back door.

This is really a good post and some very good tips to make a better home sale. I think the owners if they want to get this right for them need to give some good attention to it and make some good adjustments before selling their homes.
