Encouraging Business Development Projects in Coppell

The city of Coppell has achieved, with the help of the Coppell Chamber of Commerce, the strengthening of the community’s economy by encouraging the new growth of businesses and corporate relocation projects.

The vibrant, progressive city of Coppell was recently awarded a first place prize from the NAIOP for “Being Most Open to Business.” This prize is achieved when NAIOP members vote on how receptive local communities are to welcoming new businesses and new industrial and office developments.

Coppell also came in as a close second for the “Timing for Building Permits” prize from the NAIOP. Coppell was also highly ranked in the areas of “Economic Development Incentives Available” and “Development Costs.”

Pro-Business Policies Abound in Coppell

Coppell’s city council makes an effort to welcome new businesses and industry and assist them in all areas of relocation.

The city department works closely with new businesses and expedites the process of obtaining building and other permits required by the city.

The Tax Abatement Policy helps new businesses and industry and encourages relocation to Coppell by helping to offset some of the cost of relocation. The amount of the tax abatement is determined based upon the company’s investment in the community.

The Freeport Tax Exemption not only helps new businesses and industry, but also Texas manufacturers and distributors. The Freeport Tax Exemption, also knows as the “goods in transit” exemption, enables businesses to remain exempt from business and property taxes if they purchase their goods or merchandise in Texas, or if they purchase their goods outside of Texas but use Coppell facilities to assemble, store, manufacture, process or fabricate those goods.

Other incentives for businesses and industry relocation include development grants for sales tax rebates, development fee rebate policies and infrastructure cost share policies. These incentives are all determined on a case-by-case basis.
