Coppell’s Exceptional School Districts Encourage Local Growth

Coppell boasts a healthy, local economy thanks to its low crime, its strong business environment and its excellent schools. This area also boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The residents of this suburban town enjoy an excellent quality of life and a progressive economy, often directly linked to the outstanding educational opportunities offered here.

Coppell covers 14.71 square miles, has a population of 39,203 and a median household income of $115,553. The median age of its residents is 33.9.

School Districts in Coppell

The three school districts in the Coppell area include:

The Coppell Independent School District (CIDS), the largest school district in Coppell, includes education for children in grades K-12. This school district includes the Valley Ranch area of North Irving and parts of Lewisville which are located below the current Dallas/Denton county boundary.

The Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD includes the eastern section of Coppell, south of Sandy Lake Road and east of Macarthur Boulevard, including the Riverchase area.

Lewisville ISD includes the northern section of Coppell, including the Coppell Greens subdivision.

Texas Education Agency Ratings for Coppell Schools

Accountability ratings from the Texas Education Agency for the 2006-2007 school year ranked many Coppell Schools “exemplary,” meaning that at least 90 percent of the student body had passing Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) scores in reading/English language arts, writing, math, social studies and science.

The following schools had an “exemplary” rating: Coppell Middle School East, Coppell Middle School North, Cottonwood Creek Elementary, Denton Creek Elementary, Lakeside Elementary, Lee Elementary, Mockingbird Elementary, Pinkerton Elementary, Town Center Elementary, Valley Ranch Elementary and Wilson Elementary.
In fact, nine out of the ten elementary campuses in Coppell were given an “exemplary” rating.

Two of Coppell’s “recognized” campuses were Coppell Middle School West and Austin Elementary. A “recognized” rating means that at least 75 percent of the student body had passing Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) scores in reading/English language arts, writing, math, social studies and science.

Coppell High School achieved an “academically acceptable” rating, meaning that at least 65 percent of the student body had passing Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) scores in reading/English language arts, writing, and social studies; at least 45 percent passing in math; and at least 40 percent passing in science.
