Within the Highland Park community lays the upscale, high-end Highland Park Village shopping center. Located at the intersection of Preston Road and Mockingbird Lane, Highland Park Village serves as both a shopping center and the town square, where annual celebrations, such as the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, can be found. This premier shopping center boasts upscale shops, restaurants, and movie theaters, aimed at the affluent residents of Highland Park.

Highland Park Village by the Numbers

Highland Park Village is situated on 9.9 acres of prime real estate, with retail square footage exceeding 200,000 square feet and office space exceeding 46,200 square feet. Outdoor parking lots and indoor, valet lots accommodate up to 1,106 vehicles.

The history of Highland Park Village

Highland Park Village opened in 1931 and was recognized as the first shopping center in America. Because of this, it served as the prototype for other shopping centers around the country. In March 2000, Highland Park Village was designated as a National Historic Landmark. The U.S. Department of the Interior has recognized the architecture of Highland Park Village as playing an influential part of 20th century architecture.
