The Announcement of a LEED Certificate

In Irving, Texas, the major corporation, CitiGroup Inc., has announced that its new office park has been awarded a LEED certificate, or other wise known as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificate. This is a high honor that rewards corporations that construct real estate that is efficient energy-wise and environment-friendly.

The Irving commercial real estate office park that was awarded the certificate consists of two office buildings, which will open in August of next year. These are the first two Citigroup Inc. sites to be constructed, according to the new green program that Citigroup Inc. has put into effect. The corporation is proud that these new buildings have earned this environmental certificate, a high honor.

This top Irving office space is responsible for employing close to seven thousand employees, spread out among the two office sites. The Irving commercial real estate properties are part of a pledge, of Citigroup Inc., to create new office parks that achieve certification environmentally. Citigroup Inc. plans to use this same green program to re-think existing facilities and to construct other office centers.

This new office park, agrees Irving Realtors, will not be vacant for very long. This energy efficient and eco-friendly office sites will be very popular in the Irving, Texas area. The United States Building Council is responsible for implementing the LEED certificate system. This system is designed to effectively rate sustainability and efficiency.

Citigroup Inc., based in New York, has decided that this is just the tip of the iceberg. The corporation will go on to expand and consolidate its operations in other areas. In the area of North Texas alone, the corporation has consolidated from thirteen to two locations.
